What to Expect at FILMSTERS Academy

 

With camp just days away, we're preparing for your child's experience at film camp this summer. If you have not been a part of our program in the past, please know the following:

 

When are Classes?

Program Hours

  • Beginners 9 am - 3 pm

  • Intermediates 10 am  - 4 pm

  • Advanced 10 am - 4 pm


Non-essential employees will leave after class ends, so please plan ahead if you require after-care til 5 pm, which we will provide upon request for a nominal fee.

 

PRE-CARE and AFTERCARE are available through Key Camp office. Please contact Jane Flanagan.

Camp is happening on:

  • Beginners 1 - Monday, July 25th through July 29

  • Beginners 2 - Monday, August 1st through August 5th

  • Intermediates - Monday, July 25th through August 5th (no weekends)

  • Advanced - Saturday, July 23th through August 5th (includes the weekend of July 30th & 31st)

 

ATTIRE for Camp:

  • Comfortable, summer clothing that is appropriate in a co-ed situation.

  • Please no open-toed shoes or flip flops, we have heavy gear, stands, and cases that can smash unprotected toes.

  • Please leave high-value items at home such as iPads, video cameras, audio gear, lighting, costumes, props, etc. We have all that the kids need to make the films. If your child brings a prop of costume, please label it with your name.

 

Other important details:

  • Lunch is not provided, so please pack a lunch for your child.

  • Please send a plastic water bottle with your child's name on it for water on set and so that we can be respectful of the environment. The kids are active and it may be hot, so we want to keep them hydrated.

  • Please come in to sign your child in and out when you drop and pick them up.

  • If your child has medication or Epi-Pens (2 required) please bring them to the Administration office.

  • If we are planning to keep shooting beyond the pickup time, we will contact you at least one hour before the scheduled pick up.

  • Please plan to join us on the last night for a student film festival that will screen all ten films. Food at 6 pm, movies at 7 pm!

  • We are in a new building this summer called THE BARN. The LOWER SCHOOL ANNEX is being renovated.

  • Look for our FILMSTERS Academy banner. 

  • Children may be dropped closest to the building near the Main Parking Lot off oc CARROLL ROAD which runs along the end of the building. 

  • Please do not park in the student parking lot under any circumstances or you may be towed by Key School and we have no control over this happening. Thank you.

  • When we screen the films, we move buildings to the ACTIVITY BUILDING, which is in the center of campus behind the amphitheater. Feel free to park in the first parking lot before the Administration Building.

Need Your Child's Shirt Size ASAP!
