CLASS LEVELS FOR STUDENTS
Beginner FILMMAKERS
Ages 11-14
A ONE WEEK PROGRAM - 2 Sessions
Session 1 - July 22 - July 26, 2024
Session 2 - July 29 - August 2, 2024

Young filmmakers will be challenged to learn the basics of filmmaking through guided “hands-on” instruction and experience. Students will pitch original ideas and the class will vote on those they would like to create. Three films will be made. In small groups, they will learn how to create and develop a story idea, write, produce, shoot, direct and edit a short film. They will shoot on 4K cameras and edit using DaVinci Resolve. Students will work in teams to complete a short 5-8 minute film led by young professionals and university students using digital video cameras and editing equipment. The last night, their films will be shown at a student film festival.

Intermediate FILMMAKERS
Ages 13-16
(A TEN DAY/2 WEEK COURSE) - July 22 - August 2, 2024

More experienced visual storytellers, who have already taken Beginners or those who have had some digital media experience, will have ten days to enhance their skills in this interactive course. They will pitch original ideas which will be voted on. Three ideas will be chosen. Shooting on 4K cameras in 4k and editing using the entire Davinci Resolve, these kids will begin to master the tools of storytelling and film technology. They will write, direct, shoot, act, light, record sound and learn more about the postproduction process while being part of a collaborative film team in a creative lab environment, these young "filmsters" will create a further developed short film. Three Intermediate films will be made. The last night, their films will be shown at a student film festival.

Advanced FILMMAKERS
Ages 16-18 (requires interview)
A 14 DAY INTENSIVE PROGRAM - July 20 - August 2, 2024
This highly creative course for students who have already completed Intermediate or other comparable filmmaking explorations, will provide basic professional skills and “on set” experience. Students spend a writing workshop weekend creating an original story and preparing to pitch it to their peers. They will work together to develop, cast, location scout, prepare and breakdown the script. Each student will play a key role as either the Director, Producer, Soundperson, Cinematographer, Production Designer, Screenwriter, Gaffer (lighting), Script Supervisor, Props, Costumes, Locations Manager, Music Supervisor or Editor of the film.
They will also learn how to use professional grade audio, lights, and camera gear. Working with industry professionals while shooting on location, their gear will include using a top-of-the-line camera 6k or higher, prime lenses, additional gear motion gear and editing on-site using DaVinci Resolve. They will learn some of the nuances of sound editing, video effects, and color grading as well as music supervision.
Working as a team on one film, under the continued one-on-one supervision of professional filmmakers and industry guest instructors, these young emerging artists will create a more complex and lengthier short film for entry into student film festivals. All potential candidates must be self-motivated team players who want to hone their skills and pursue their passion for filmmaking. All potential candidates will be required to attend a short interview session or ZOOM or in person and must be self-motivated team players possessed with a passion for filmmaking who want to sharpen and explore their skills with an eye toward this industry in the future. Their film will be the grand finale presentation of the student film festival on the last night
